After a called meeting and a 20-minute executive session, the Bryan County Board of Education voted Friday evening to name Cari Delatorre as the new principal for Bryan County High School.

Delatorre is currently a middle school principal for Neuse Charter School in Smithfield, N.C., but has lived in Bryan County and earned her bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern, according to the NCS website. She has 12 years of classroom experience as a teacher and taught middle school math in Savannah Chatham Schools, the website said.

She holds a master teacher endorsement from Georgia.

Delatorre was one of 27 applicants for the job, according to Bryan County Schools Superintdent Dr. Paul Brooksher. He said she will start as soon "as we can get her down here."

Delatorre replaces Dr. Dawn Hadley, who suddenly resigned shortly after graduation.
