The Bryan County Board of Education will meet at 5:45 p.m. today at the Richmond HIll Pre-K center in a called meeting.

The BoE will meet in executive session on a personnel matter, according to notice sent earlier today. It's unclear whether the board will take any action afterward.

Though state law requires governing bodies such as school boards to give 24 hour notice of such meetings, there are exceptions for emergency meetings.

Georgia's Open Meetings Act:

"When special circumstances occur and are so declared by an agency, that agency may hold

a meeting with less than 24 hours’ notice upon giving such notice of the meeting and subjects

expected to be considered at the meeting as is reasonable under the circumstances,

including notice to the county legal organ or a news paper having a general circulation in the

county at least equal to that of the legal organ, in which event the reason for holding the

meeting within 24 hours and the nature of the notice shall be recorded in the minutes
