Sponsored by the Friends of Coastal Gardens, the fundraiser runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and will include educational lectures, activities for children, plant vendors and arts and crafts.

Carnival in Skidaway park on March 20
GO-pher a Carnival is set for 1-6 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Skidaway Island State Park. The annual carnival is a day of family fun with crafts, carnival games, food, face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, inflatable moon bounce and an appearance by the Amazing GA Bubbleman. The park features hiking trails, an interpretive center, playgrounds, picnic areas and campground.

Watching safely from the banks of the Flint River, visitors can observe the fascinating practice of prescribed burning as professionals carefully set fire on Pine Mountain ridge.

Display from former freed slave school at Hville musuem
Dorchester Academy, one of the earliest schools for freed slaves, helped to shape the history of Liberty County. An exhibit highlighting the academy’s notable events and people is on display during March at the Old Liberty County Jail Museum. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-noon and from 1-4 p.m.
