America's birthday Yesterday was the 232nd birthday of our great country. I was a history major in college, and I focused particularly on American history. But I still have to admit something. It boggles my mind to consider the imagination and thoughtfulness it took to develop the type of government we have. There were truly a number of great leaders at work in those days. |

Our freedom did not come free This 4th of July we celebrate the freedom we have here in America. We as Americans still enjoy freedoms not experienced and only dreamed of by most of the world’s population. |

Gods way, part 4: we will follow As we have been looking at following "God’s Way," we have seen that God’s way is best, but will we follow "God’s Way?" |

Wanting to go home This past week I took a vacation with my wife and two of my grand kids. On the way to our destination I heard time and time again, "When are we going to get there?" After over a week being away I think the kids began to get a little homesick. On the way back I heard over and over again, ‘When are we going to get home?" |

In times of uncertainties, have faith Just ask the average Joe on the street about the economy and the future and it won’t take long to realize that people are full of uncertainties. We don’t know who will be our next president and how it will effect our country and the world as well. We don’t know how high gas prices will go or when someone is going to do something about them. |

Gods way in caring for others (part 2) "Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets" (Matt. 22:36-40). The occasion of the preceding ... |

Try on an attitude of gratitude today It is the first day of summer. That’s not as big of a deal here as it has been in other places I have lived. After all, we have been enjoying summer type weather for a few weeks now. But I have to tell you this. When I lived in Michigan we gave thanks when the first day of summer rolled around. Sometimes we were still wearing light jackets. But we were grateful for the change. |
