Run camp for teens next week

Georgia Game Changers and the Coastal YMCA are hosting a three-day running camp for teens beginning Monday at the Richmond Hill YMCA. The camp is for kids ages 13-18 and will be from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For more information call the YMCA at 756-5856.

Hendrix Park’s 12U team off to state

The Hendrix Park 12U All-Stars are headed to the state Georgia Recreation and Parks Association championship tournament in Berrien County next weekend. The team finished second to Jeff Davis after falling 13-11 in extra innings in what coaches said was a long, hardfought battle. The team consists of, front row, left to right, Kelsey Leggett, Lyla Harrell, Brooklyn Hewitt, Kendal Spacek and Kourtney Marsh. In back are Sarah Moyer, Sarah Hovis, Hannah Barnard and Audrey Williams. Coaches are Tony Leggett and Keith Harrel

Red Hot Chili Pepper 5K is set for July 26

Georgia Game Changers Running Company and a number of other Richmond Place Plaza's businesses, including Jalapeno's Mexican Restaurant of Richmond Hill, and the Hale Tea Company, are joining to host what is sure to be one of the area's 'hottest' summer road races on Saturday, July 26th at 8:00 am.

Wrestlers practice art at RHHS

High caliber wrestlers from Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida attended Arturo Holmes' The Wresting Center Camp Tuesday at Richmond Hill High School. The 46 participants were coached by Arturo Holmes, who puts on clinics like this one across the nation, according to RHHS wrestling coach Bob Parker, who says the school is "fortunate to have him here." Parker thanked Richmond Hill youth wrestling coach Dan Krug and the Director of South Bryan County Recreation Kay Green for helping put the camp together.

SBCRD 8U team qualifies for state

The South Bryan County Recreation Department's 8U team has advanced to the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association state tournament after finishing second in the District 2 tourney. The state tourney is July 9-12 in Sylvania.

'Dirty up' run coming to HAAF

The runway at Hunter Army Airfield, stretching 11,375 feet, has served over the decades - in times of peace and in times of war-– as the takeoff and landing place for America's defenders. On June 21, the 5K/10K Flightline "Dirty Up" Run event will give military and civilians alike an opportunity to walk or run on the expansive runway, get an up close look at military aircraft on display, and hang out with those who fly and maintain the aircraft.
