Challenger Soccer Camp at Hendrix Park

Bryan County children attend the third annual Challenger Sports Soccer Camp at Hendrix Park. Coaches Ashley Whiteley and Danny Smith of England are two of more than 1,800 soccer coaches who come to the United States every summer for eight weeks and work on developing young American soccer athletes. This year Hendrix park is hosting 17 campers ages 4 to 14 in two groups. For more details visit www.hendrixpark.org.

Richmond Hill's Zach Broome made the University of South Carolina football team as a walk-on earlier this year and will be on the Gamecocks roster in 2011. That apparently makes Broome the first player from Richmond Hill High School to play on a Southeastern Conference team. Broome, who is 6-foot-3 and weighs 205 pounds, will be at wide receiver for South Carolina.
