Redskins, Wildcats in new regions

Both Bryan County High School and Richmond Hill High School will have some new faces - and mascots - to get used to when the 2012-2013 school year begins next fall.

Wildcats land 10 on All-Region 2-AAAA football team

Richmond Hill High School posted its best football record in more than a decade this season, finishing 6-4.

Tuesday, a number of players reaped the rewards. Nine Wildcats were named to the All-Region 2-AAAA team.

The Richmond Hill High School girls' basketball team improved to 6-1 with a 67-30 win over South Effingham on Friday night in Guyton. The boys improved to 3-1 with a 69-47 win in the nightcap.

Wildcats fall to Effingham in 3-AAAAA contest

Richmond Hill's softball team was in Springfield Tuesday afternoon where the Lady Rebels took a 4-1 win in a Region 3-AAAAA game. Official stats have yet to be posted but according to box scores available one maxpreps.com the Wildcats had a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Effingham girls quickly turned the game to their advantage adding two runs in the second inning and driving in two more unanswered runs in the third for the victory.

Sisters team up on 3-hitter

Lady Redskin sisters Brooke and Shelby Barfield combined to give up only three hits and allowed no runs in Bryan County's 8-0 shutout over St. Vincent's last week in a home game and Region 2-AA contest.
