Ward throws gem, Wildcats win

Senior Nathan Ward threw a complete game shutout, striking out 12, to lead Richmond Hill High School to a 1-0 win over Region 2A-AAAA foe Wayne County on Tuesday night at Wildcats Field. Davis Townsend was the hard luck losing pitcher for Wayne. He also throwing a complete game one hitter but gave up an unearned run in the 4th inning.

Johnson named Region 2-AAAA player of year

Aliyah Johnson was named the top player in Region 2-AAAA by region coaches after the Lady Wildcats (24-3) won the 2-AAAA title and set a school record for consecutive games won. Johnson, who has signed with Wofford, averaged 19 points a game this season. Also earning postseason honors were coach Elizabeth Bennett, coach of the year, Keeara Jackson, second team and Sarah Goolsby and Charmia Graham, who earned honorable mention. On the boy's team, Spencer Buck, James Williams, Kody Morales and Alex Cruz earned All Region 2A-AAAA .

Hoops season ends for RHHS, BCHS girls

Bainbridge upset Richmond Hill High School 62-53 on Friday night in the first round of the girls' state Class AAAA basketball playoffs on Friday night in Richmond Hill. The loss ends the Lady Wildcats' season. Richmond Hill finished 25-3.

Richmond Hill tops Bryan County in baseball opener

AASU must be filling pretty good about recent signees Ryan Esenwein and Nathan Ward after both Richmond Hill players played prominent roles in their season opening 13-3 win against Bryan County. Esenwein pitched five innings, giving up two hits and only one earned run and Ward hit a two-out grand slam to push the Wildcats lead to 10-3 in the third inning. Esenwein struck out eight and walked four in his complete game win. Ward finished 1-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Wildcats top Tigers 28-7

Richmond Hill waltzed into Olvey Field and handed the Bradwell Tigers a 28-7 Region 3-AAAAA loss Friday night. The Wildcats were led offensively by Ronnie Harris. The senior had amassed more than 140 rushing yards just in the first half, unofficially. The Richmond Hill boys converted Tiger turnovers into points.
