Mcgirt gets to 1,000 in BCHS win

Bryan County High School senior Diamond Mcgirt reached the 1,000 point plateau on Tuesday night. Mcgirt scored 24 points in the Lady Redskins' 38-34 win over Metter in Pembroke.

Six Wildcats expected to sign Wednesday

At least six Richmond Hill High School football players will sign national letters of intent at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the new Link media center at Richmond Hill High School.

Richmond Hill U14 team wins gold at Girls Rock tourney

The Richmond Hill Soccer Club U14 Girls Select team won its division at the 2013 Savannah Girls Rock Tournament on Jan. 19-20. Coach Marquez's U14G team defeated the Charlotte Soccer Academy Samba 1-0 and then defeated its sister team, the Charlotte Soccer Academy Mundial 2-0 on Saturday. On Sunday, the team handled WCWAA 4-0 in the semi-finals. In the finals match, the lady Comets upset the Charlotte Soccer Academy Gazelle 3-0 for their champion's medals.

Wildcats down Ware 49-30

Richmond Hill High School beat Ware County 49-30 on Tuesday night in a Region 3-AAAAA contest. The Wildcats got 11 points from Wallace Smith and 10 from Jeremiah Hill. Richmond Hill led 17-13 at halftime.

Tough night for local teams

Friday night was tough on local high school basketball teams. All four local squads lost. In Pembroke, Vidalia's boys blew open a close game to knock off Bryan County High School 78-46. Bryan County sophomore Jeremy McClendon led all scorers with 20 points. In the girls' contest, Vidalia won 62-44. Bryan County senior Diamond Mcgirt had 24 points. Softball camps: Georgia Southern is hosting a set of softball camps this January for youngsters ages 7 through high school senior. The camps are a great way for players to take their game to the next level. Each camp is hosted by the coaching staff at Georgia Southern at the Eagle Softball Field in Statesboro.
