Off Broadway Dance Studio had a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house Friday. The new dance studio features two sprung dance floors. The studio's instructors want to give the dancers the best education, as well as help them develop character traits such as self-worth, self-confidence and team work skills. Sept. 17: Sept. 17: Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting – Radiant Skin Medical Spa, which specializes in laser hair removal, Sublative skin resurfacing, microdermabrasion, Botox and more, is having its grand opening and ribbon cutting from 5-8 p.m. The ribbon cutting begins at 5:30 p.m., located in the Speir Brogdom building in the Crossroads Center off Highway 17. Appetizers will be served and prizes will be given away throughout the evening.

Community troupe presents dinner theater

It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt – or in this case, murdered. The Richmond Hill Community Theatre (RHCT), along with Molly MacPherson's Scottish Pub and Grill, are presenting an interactive dinner theater called "Mur-der, Medium-Rare" by Eileen Moushey. The production will take place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and again on Sept. 27

The rain didn't stop community members from stopping by the Richmond Hill Farmers Market last Tuesday to pick up fresh produce, homemade bread and other crafts. The Farmers Market is every Tuesday from 3-7 p.m., at J. F. Gregory Park. Tiffany Stroud captured some of the activity on her camera.

Sept. 12: Dance Studio Ribbon Cutting and Open House – Starting at 11 a.m., Off Broadway Dance Studio, located at 480 Edsel Drive Suite 200, will be having a ribbon cutting. It all began in high school. As drum major of the marching band his senior year at Richmond Hill High School, Travis Coles knew he enjoyed music. When he needed another elective to fulfill his high school requirements, Travis decided to try chorus.

Sept. 4: Tour of Bryan Neck Presbyterian Church and Manse – The Richmond Hill Historical Society is offering a tour of the historic Bryan Neck Presbyterian Church and Manse on Belfast Keller Road, where guests will be given a tour of the church, cemetery, manse and grounds with an overview of the history by local author and historian Buddy Sullivan. Families went to The Ice Cream Stop Saturday night to watch Disney's "Frozen" and eat ice cream. Tiffany Stroud went with her camera to capture some of the fun. The Ice Cream Stop has outdoor movies every Friday and Saturday night, weather permitting, for the community to watch.

Aug. 29-30: Movie Night Under the Stars - The Ice Cream Stop in Richmond Hill invites the community to a free family fun night of movie watching under the stars. Friday evening's showing will be a PG-rated movie, and Saturday night's movie will be rated G. The movies will begin at dusk. Guests are asked to bring a lawn chair. Richmond Hill High School football fans and band members traveled to Camden County on Saturday for a preseason football scrimmage between the Wildcats and Camden County High School. The regular season starts Sept. 5 for RHHS. Bryan Browning brought his camera along to show the spirit of Wildcat fans and spirit teams.

Businesses get toys, books to Gold Star kids

Two local businesses - the Richmond Hill branch of the Navy Federal Credit Union and the Richmond Hill City Center - along with several local individuals recently made donations to help give sets of books and matching plush toys to children in Gold Star Families who are a part of the Snowball Express.

RH preschool owner honored by state

Richmond Hill resident Audrey Singleton, owner of the Richmond Hill Montessori Preschool, recently was recognized by the Georgia Child Care Association. For her 20 years of service to childhood education, fellow child-care facility owners who felt Singleton had made a commitment to the industry throughout the year nominated her for the honor.
