See and be seen: Business After Hours H&L Tire and Auto Repair

Members of the Richmond Hill business community joined the Richmond Hill-Bryan County Chamber of Commerce for its monthly Business After Hours, hosted Thursday at H&L Tire and Auto Repair on Longwood Drive. The event included several raffles in which attendees had the chance to win cash prizes, a gift certificate for four tires, a Big Green Egg and more. Midnight Star Pottery in Richmond Hill is an interactive pottery studio where customers can paint pottery pieces, sculpt pottery, paint canvases, tie dye T-shirts or fuse glass together. The pottery studio's new owner, Linda Lennane, is looking forward to hosting summer camps and classes for children. These photos of earlier classes were provided.

March 13: Bring Your Own Dog Yappy Hour - From 6-8 p.m., at Fish Tales Restaurant at Fort McAllister Marina, a "Joys of Spring" event will take place to raise the necessary funds for the building of the county's dog park at Henderson Park. Hundreds attend Rotary fundraiser

The Rotary Club of Richmond Hill hosted a beach-themed fundraiser Saturday, complete with beach towels, beach balls and vases filled with sand as decorations. Guests enjoyed dancing, drinks with little umbrella garnishes, food and classic music.

Hundreds of Rotary Club members and their guests went to the Richmond Hill City Center on Saturday for the annual Rotary Club fundraiser. This year's event was a beach theme - tables were decorated with beach towels, sunglasses, vases filled with sand and candles. Guests enjoyed the music, food and auctions.

See and Be Seen: Football tryouts at South Bryan County

The boys of fall are at it again. South Bryan County Recreation Department football got under way recently with tryouts, and hundreds of kids showed up to show coaches what they can do. The season begins soon for various age groups who will compete for local and state glory, the latter through the auspices of the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association district and state playoffs.

AUG. 15-16: Movie Night Under the Stars - The Ice Cream Stop in Richmond Hill invites the community to a free family fun night of movie watching under the stars. Friday evening's showing will be a PG-rated movie, and Saturday night's movie will be rated G. The movies will begin at dusk. Guests are asked to bring a lawn chair. GED program offers free classes

Bryan County offers three opportunities for community members to receive their GED through free classes offered at the Pembroke and Richmond Hill Public Libraries, as well as the Goodwill in Richmond Hill. Instructor Rick Smith said these classes give the community the education and credentials needed to find college or career opportunities.

The community came out to J.F. Gregory Park last Saturday for the National Night Out event sponsored by the City of Richmond Hill and the Richmond Hill Police Department.
