Tour Civil War fort by candlelight

Fort McAllister State Historic Park will have a candle lantern tour from 7-8 p.m. Saturday. There also will be cannon firings and musket demonstrations all day long. Visitors who tour the fort by candlelight will see Civil War soldiers going about their nightly duties. Participants are asked to stay with their tour guides or they may be captured as a spy. Please do not bring flashlights.

Play based on WWII letters from Stewart soldiers

The Liberty Theatre Company, in conjunction with the Hinesville Area Arts Council, will debut its original production, "Pieces of Home," on March 12 at the Liberty Performing Arts Center in Flemington. Brian Rothwell, a longtime teacher at Bradwell Institute, and Jennifer Buehler, who most recently starred in the company's "Steel Magnolias," will direct the play.

Campy spirit makes 'Hercules' good, dumb fun

"Hercules" is the second attempt this year to make an incarnation of the Greek warrior after "The Legend of Hercules." For me, "Hercules" is like a lot of other characters in literature and mythology, such as Dracula or Robin Hood, that have been subjected to various cinematic interpretations. Everyone from Disney to Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken a stab at it.
