'In Time' is fun despite plot holes

"In Time," a new science-fiction thriller in theaters now, stars Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried ("Letters to Juliet," "Red Riding Hood") as a mismatched pair living in a future version of our world. Like many sci-fi flicks these days, you have to accept the premise of the movie right away or you'll be completely confused half the time.

'Mao's Last Dancer' has art overcome oppression

This week's film combines the elements of history, dance and a far-off land into one sweeping drama. The picture is called "Mao's Last Dancer," and I found it intriguing, marvelous to watch and very inspirational. Based upon the real-life autobiography of Chinese ballet dancer Li Cunxin, the film depicts one young man's journey from rural communist China to the stage of the Houston Ballet in the United States. I dare you to watch without a box of tissues.

Retire 'Expendables' if recent episode is all they can do

"The Expendables 3," now in theaters, continues the franchise featuring well-known action-movie icons of the 1980s and 1990s in an attempt to recapture their glory days. I thought the first movie was average, the second movie was actually better-than-average, but the third movie falls by the wayside.
