Holiday workers find ways to celebrate
While many Bryan County residents are tucked away in their homes surrounded by family at Christmas, there will be people working to make sure others are safe.
Groups rally to help fire victims
A fire that destroyed a Richmond Hill restaurant earlier this month also burned away jobs for a couple dozen employees, but some of those families will be able to enjoy a Christmas dinner thanks to a fishing club and other local groups.

Reindeer Games a success
Jill Beason was among those who attended the Richmond Hill Reindeer Games Saturday in the pavilion at J.F. Gregory Park. Beason lives in Savannah but works in Richmond Hill at David Donaldson CPA. She came to the park with her family despite the rainy weather.
St. Nick makes some early rounds
Asa Clay sat in a Bryan County fire truck and pulled on his white gloves as the driver approached the Main Street subdivision in Richmond Hill on Monday night.

Gold Star Wives recognized nationally
Patricia Barbee will salute other women like her on Saturday. "I'm going to have my cup of tea and hoist it high," said the Gold Star Wife and North Bryan resident who, like thousands of other women across the country, lost her husband during wartime. The holiday spirit was strong Saturday in Pembroke as residents hit the streets downtown for the annual Christmas parade and holiday festival despite the cloudy skies and wet weather.

Community unites for young cancer patient
Dylan Moore did not have any health problems until mid-October. That's when the 9-year-old Richmond Hill Elementary School student started having fevers and pain in his joints, according to his mother, Nancy Moore. Dylan went to the doctor and had his blood drawn. "And sure enough," Moore said, "they diagnosed him leukemia the next day." Doctors diagnosed Dylan with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and also found out that he carries a Philadelphia chromosome, which intensifies cancer ...

The recently signed Rural Tourism Protection Act helps Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites meet budget challenges and aids communities dependent on the tourism provided by the state's parks, historic sites or outdoor recreation areas within their communities, according to state Rep. Debbie Buckner, D-Junction City, who wrote the bill.
Club spruces up library sign
