Planning for the parade
Nancy Frye, left, Michele Meacham, Amanda Styer and Dana Brown gather recently to discuss plans for the coming Richmond Hill Chili Cook-off and Christmas Parade and set for Dec. 3 and 4, respectively. They, along with Roberta Bennett, Butch Broome, Harvey Lashley and Jessica Means, make up the planning committee for the holiday events and have been working on this year's festivities since October.

Cities helping Mayors Christmas Motorcade

It was sunny and breezy Veterans Day on Thursday, and Lisa Freeman said she could not have asked for a better day to hold the inaugural 5K run/walk in memory of her son.
CASA volunteers train on databases
On Oct. 29, Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers from Liberty, Long, Bryan, McIntosh, Evans and Tattnall counties assembled in Hinesville for training on the Court Process Reporting System, a statewide database. The training, held at The Coastal Bank, was conducted by George Li of the Supreme Court of Georgia Committee on Justice for Children.
New flags honor veterans
Members of Boy Scout Troop 357 and Cub Scout Pack 357 honor Veterans Day on Saturday by placing new flags in the park in downtown Pembroke during the annual flag ceremony. American Legion Auxiliary No. 164 dedicated the new flags in memory of Melvin L. Spier, who served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Richmond Hill will honor veterans with its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday in J.F. Gregory Park.
Church marks 125th with prayer, song
Bryan Neck Presbyterian Church commemorated its 125th anniversary on Sunday with a building rededication ceremony and reception open to the community.

Joshua K. Marion graduated recently from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.
RH Garden Club names Yard of Month
The Richmond Hill garden Club recently named 210 Fair View Drive in Richmond Hill Yard of the Month for November. Homeowners Gina and Phil Jablonski, who moved to Bryan County from Ohio in May, are responsible for the hard work on the yard. Gina said she loves the knock out roses because they provide beautiful color for the long growing season in Georgia.
Thursday events will honor veterans
On Thursday, most of the folks at Richmond Hill City Hall will take a break to honor service members of past and present in the city's annual Veterans Day ceremony.

The Exchange Club of Richmond Hill is planning a World War II Remembrance Program on May 22. The guest speaker will be Paul Grassey, a B-24 pilot with the 8th Air Force; having flown 13 combat missions during the war.
Bill supposed to help parks, communities
The recently signed Rural Tourism Protection Act helps Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites meet budget challenges and aids communities dependent on the tourism provided by the state's parks, historic sites or outdoor recreation areas within their communities, according to state Rep. Debbie Buckner, D-Junction City, who wrote the bill.
Club spruces up library sign
The Pembroke Garden Club recently completed a beautification project at the Pembroke Library. The club thanked Ernest Hamilton from the Honey Wagon Company for donating the pine straw.
Tri-tip beef is a cut above
