Redskins open season

The BCHS Redskin Baseball team opened their season Friday night with a scrimmage game against Bradwell Institute and a ceremony that honored former BCHS coach Albert Lodge and retired the jersey of former BCHS baseball player Russell Williams.

Wildcats hit the diamond

With two games now under their belts, albeit one of them was a pre-season practice game loss to Savannah Christian, head coach Mitchell Curry has to be fairly pleased with the results. The pitching is what he thought it would be and the rest isn't so bad either. On Monday night in Swainsboro the Wildcats rebounded nicely beating the always-tough Tigers on their own turf for a season starting 8-4 win.

Wildcat baseball pitched at fundraiser

It has become an annual event for Richmond Hill baseball. Carrabba's dinner and meet the team are as recognizable to Wildcat baseball as hotdogs and sand gnats. Last Tuesday night at the Richmond Hill High School cafeteria the local restaurant prepared meals for take out and dine in while head coach Mitchell Curry introduced his 2007 team to a room full of parents, boosters and administrators.

Lady Wildcats off to 4-0 start

After their season opener against Statesboro was cancelled due to lighting issues, the RHHS girls' soccer team is off to a strong start.

Soccer getting a kick start

Richmond Hill's boys and girls soccer teams kicked off their respective seasons last weekend at the Effingham Jamboree. The Lady Wildcats went 2-0-1, picking up a 4-0 win over Brunswick. Laura Nunnery scored twice on assists from Allison Synder and Katie Berry while Lori Barnes scored on an assist from Lauren Regan and Lauren Hall kicked in an unassisted goal. Keeper Sarah Parker finished with five saves. The Wildcats went 0-1-2. Richmond Hill hosts the Wildcat tourney this week and take on Calvary Day in a boys/girls doubleheader today beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Soccer Wildcats on a roll

Though they've faced some tough matches, the RHHS boys' soccer team remains undefeated so far this season.

Season ends for Lady Redskins

The Lady Redskins traveled to Savannah Country Day School last Wednesday. Unfortunately, their season ended in a loss to the Lady Hornets 45-8. Missed shots proved to be the undoing of the Lady Skins.

Lady Wildcats keep heads up after loss at state

Although the Richmond Hill girls basketball team were eliminated in the first round the state playoffs in Columbus after a 70-20 loss to Columbus this past Friday, coach Wade Wright said they still have every reason to be proud.

Redskins wrap up season

The BCHS Redskins traveled to the Region 3A tournament in Savannah last Wednesday evening. The seeding dictated that the Redskins play number 2 ranked Emanuel County.

Lady Wildcats take on Kendrick in first round

At the region tournament in Augusta on Wednesday, Feb. 14, the Richmond Hill High School girls basketball team defeated the highly touted Butler team to win a trip to the state playoffs.

Building for next year

It has been a rough but amazing season for the Bryan County Redskins, finishing their schedule with 5 wins and 19 losses. Last Tuesday night, the Redskins found a victory against Pierce County 44-34, but lost an exciting game to Claxton 40-37 Friday night. Saturday night's game saw another loss 52-41 against Metter.

Wildcats honor seniors in season finale

Although the Richmond Hill boys finished the season as they started it, with another two losses in the final week, two of many that have piled up this season, throughout they have played hard, held their heads high, and respected each other as a team. On Saturday night against Jenkins, senior night, they respected those players who will be moving on.

Shad season to open Jan. 1

RHHS football coach resigns

Josh Eads, Richmond Hill High School's football coach, has resigned, the school announced Saturday morning. A search for a new coach will begin immediately, according to RHHS athletic director Mickey Bayens, who thanked Eads for his hard work, dedication and commitment to the school.
