Richmond Hill gets mixed results

The RHHS Wildcat Tennis Teams divided bragging rights in a non-region match on March 13. AAAAA School Glynn Academy was edged out by the boys team but defeated the girls. On Monday, Coach Pat Paruso tried an alternate line-up which had mixed results for their competition with Statesboro.

Bryan County sweeps Jenkins County

This past Thursday, the BCHS tennis teams split with Claxton High School at a competition in Claxton when the boys lost 3-2 and the girls won 5-0. On Monday at home, the BCHS boys won 5-0 and the girls won 3-2 in matches against Jenkins County.

BCHS sweeps track meet

The BCHS track team boys and girls teams respectively won first place in a meet last Wednesday which included competitors from Effingham County, Portal, and Richmond Hill. The boys won first place in every singles event except one.

Wildcats scoring runs in bunches

An old adage in baseball is that hitting is contagious. If that is true, Mitchell Curry's Wildcats are in the throws of a full blown epidemic. Richmond Hill has 53 hits and 40 runs in the last three games. One of those games was a loss, but the latest victims of this outbreak were Johnson High School that lost in a rain make up on Friday 17-0 in four innings and a 14-0 thrashing of Bradwell on Saturday that lasted only five innings.

After struggling with weather, illness and a host of strong opponents, the Richmond Hill tennis team has entered region play with authority. Both the boys and the girls wielded impressive wins over Liberty County and Burke County.

The RHHS boys and girls soccer team continued their winning ways in recent competitions. On March 6, they played their first region matches against South Effingham, and they faced Liberty County in other regional competition on Friday.

Wildcats learn no lead is safe

Richmond Hill coach Mitchell Curry knew Thursday night's game was going to be his teams first real test. Brunswick plays in region 2-AAAA and has the talent to finish strong in their region. So when Curry looked up at the scoreboard in the top of the sixth and saw his team leading 9-2 he had to be pretty pleased.

Limited red snapper season opens

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker recently approved a request by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries to allow limited recreational harvesting of red snapper in federal waters, according to Doug Haymans, policy coordinator with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
