New coaches named at RHHS
The varsity athletic scene at Richmond Hill High School has experienced some drastic changes this past week. New Wildcat head coaches have been signed for softball and both boys and girls basketball for the coming seasons.
Baker signs with Milligan
Richmond Hill High School student and ace swimmer Sara Baker recently signed a letter of intent to attend Milligan College on a shared academic and athletic scholarship.
Wildcats' comeback bid falls short
After a come from behind, nail biting, 7-6 win against Cross Creek on Tuesday qualified Richmond Hill for a trip to the state tournament, head coach Mitchell Curry described the next game against Benedictine on Thursday to decide the third and fourth seeding as "putting your hand in a sack of snakes."
Redskins blast Claxton, edge Johnson
After earning a berth to state last week, the Redskin baseball team continued their winning streak with two more big victories this week, 10-0 over Claxton on Tuesday and 1-0 over Johnson High on Thursday.
Redskins earn trip to state
It is official, the Bryan County High School Redskin Baseball team is going to state playoffs. With the 7-6 win against the Jenkins County Eagles Friday night the Redskins secured their spot in the state playoffs to begin May 11 in Turner County.
Soccer seasons end
Despite strong efforts, the Richmond Hill High School boys and girls soccer teams bowed out of the state playoffs in Columbus after losses in the first round to end what have been overall spectacular seasons for their respective programs.
Wildcats rolling along
When asked during the pre-season head coach Mitchell Curry stated his team only needed to beat the teams they were supposed to and their goal of returning to the state tournament could be realized. They have done just that and more. Hephzibah was their final conquest on Friday 14-4 allowing Richmond Hill to run their regular season record to 18-6, 8-2 in region 3S-AAA.
Wildcats advance to Elite Eight in state tennis
A solid 4-1 win over a spirited Spalding County team gave the Wildcats claim to the Elite Eight and opened the door to get to the Final Four."
BCHS tennis teams bow out in state playoffs
The BCHS boys and girls tennis teams were both eliminated in the first round of the state playoffs in matches against Telfair at BCHS on Thursday.
Wildcats peaking in time for state baseball tourney
Richmond Hill will play on Tuesday May 1 in their first post season play since the current crop of seniors on the team were freshmen.
RHHS girls fall, boys win
The Richmond Hill girls tennis team finished 16-5, made the state playoffs and achieved a No. 7 state ranking this year.
Hendrix Park softball results
4/14/07 Hendrix Park 14&under Boys Shine During Ball-A-Rama Game one was a pitcher's dual with only 6 hits allowed in the game. Hendrix Park starter Nicholas Rud pitched a complete game 2-hit shutout to begin the DiamondBacks season. He recorded 6 strikeouts while allowing only two walks. Five Wildcats make all region
The all 3-AAA region teams have been picked by the region coaches and include the following RHHS players: First Team Defense - Steven Galbreath (linebacker), Special Teams: Xavier Owens (kick returner), 2nd Team Defense: Caleb Brewer (linebacker), 2nd Team Offense: John Szeker (wide receiver), 2nd Team Defense: Nathan Kilburn (linebacker).
Bryan County golf teams state bound
Both the BCHS boys and girls golf teams advanced into state competition Tuesday after the region tournament in Black Creek. Visiting Region 3-A opponents included Calvary Day and Claxton. The top two finishing teams in the tournament qualified to continue on to state competition.
RHHS tennis teams advance to state
Twenty-two athletes from Richmond Hill High School accomplished the goal for which they have been working toward. Both boys and girls tennis teams will compete in the state playoffs via strong showings at this week's regional playoffs.
