Wildcat harriers start season with a bang

The RHHS Wildcat boys and girls cross country teams kicked off their season with a bang last Wednesday.

RHHS softball rained out

The Lady Wildcat softball team were slated to participate in an invitational tournament in Brunswick this weekend. The event was rained out after only one game. Unfortunately, that one game was against a tough Atlanta based team and ended with a 7-0 loss. The Cats were confident they would gain a victory in their next scheduled tournament game versus Effingham, but did not get that chance. The Cats are currently 5-2 for region play. Next up is a Thursday away game versus South Effingham.

Wildcats squeak past Redskins

After Richmond Hill's Zach Alltop nailed a 20 yard field goal in the first period to give his team an early 3-0 lead over their cross county rival Bryan County, the lament from the coaches patrolling the Wildcat sideline the rest of the game was – "that's not going to be enough."

Richmond Hill continues to roll

With a young squad to start with, head coach Jodi Reagan really needs two pitchers she can count on to anchor and solidify her team's inexperience. On Tuesday in Richmond Hill that second pitcher, Hillary Roberts, may have turned a corner with a 10-0 five inning shut out against Brunswick.

With the completion of this week's games, the BCHS Ladyskins are fast on their way to reaching the midway point of their season. With a region record of 2-3, the Ladyskins have their work cut out for them for the rest of the season.

Wildcats find positives in scrimmage

For those fans disappointed in the final score of this past Friday's Richmond Hill scrimmage loss to Pierce County 34-20, fret not - there were some positive notes. The Wildcat varsity unofficially ran for nearly 200 yards of offense in three quarters - all of this with their number one running back, Darius Postell, on the sidelines.

Redskins romp past MCHS

The BCHS Redskin football team overwhelmed the Montgomery County Eagles by gaining a 28-7 victory in a non-region scrimmage game Aug. 24 on Redskin Field.

Lady Wildcats open season in whirlwind fashion

The first week of the season has been a whirlwind for Jodi Reagan and her Lady Wildcat softball team. Six games in six days will take its toll on any team, especially in this south Georgia heat. To their credit, Richmond Hill finished the week strong in Brunswick with a hard fought 5-3 win.

Fall means football and more at rec level

The fall sports season is gearing up to kick off on both ends of the county. Children of all ages are about to fill both recreation fields for football, cheerleading and soccer. In addition, Richmond Hill will have baseball, softball, soccer and tennis.

RHHS football coach resigns

Josh Eads, Richmond Hill High School's football coach, has resigned, the school announced Saturday morning. A search for a new coach will begin immediately, according to RHHS athletic director Mickey Bayens, who thanked Eads for his hard work, dedication and commitment to the school.
