Xtreme Heat sets the stage

Coach Keith Hall and his 14 and under girls Richmond Hill-based travel softball team, Xtreme Heat, have just completed their second season since forming two years ago. Prior to the formation of this team, Richmond Hill did not have a local travel team.

Three Eagles named All-SoCon

Three Georgia Southern Eagles received Preseason All-Southern Conference accolades when the preseason teams and polls were announced Tuesday (July 24) at the SoCon Football Rouser. The event was held at the Embassy Suites in Greenville, South Carolina.

Basketball legend Cazzie Russell to speak at Coastal Community Christian Church

Cazzie Russell, head men's basketball coach at Savannah College of Art and Design and a former NBA All-Star, will be the guest speaker at a Back-to-School JAM (Jesus and Me) Session on Sunday, Aug. 12, at 5:30 p.m. The event will be hosted by Coastal Community Christian Church in Richmond Hill for middle- and high-school students.

County well represented at WFC World Series

Renegades take second in GRPA district play

Head coach Steve Howard's 14 and under girls Renegades team took second place in the GRPA district tournament last week. In addition to competing as a Hendrix Park All-Star team, the Renegades have had much success in tournament ball this summer throughout the southeast.

Pittsley signs with Brewton Parker

Howard Pittsley always new his son was good enough to play baseball at the next level, and so did Wildcat baseball star Aaron Pittsley, but a string of injuries including knee surgery kept him off the field much of his sophomore and junior years. After finally getting an injury-free and very successful senior season under his belt, Aaron Pittsley now hopes to one day be "over a knife" in stead of under one.

Collins wins Erik Edenfield scholarship

  1. Alkeem Collins, a 2007 graduate of Bryan County High School, was presented recently with the Erik Edenfield Scholarship. This scholarship is presented to the BCHS Most Valuable Player in the amount of $250.00. The scholarship, given by Savage, Turner, Pinson & Karsman of Savannah, is presented in honor of Erik Edenfield, son of Barbara Edenfield who works as a paralegal at the firm for R. Bart Turner. Erik Edenfield, a 2006 graduate of Bryan County High School was tragically killed in an automobile accident in 2006. The scholarship will run for five years at $250 each year. Erik Edenfield was ...
