UGA Day in Statesboro

The University of Georgia Alumni Association and the UGA Athletic Association have teamed up to bring UGA Day to Statesboro on May 22. A buffet dinner begins at 6 p.m., followed by the official program at 7 p.m.

Redskins, Wildcats earn wins

Bryan County High School pulled out a 9-8 win over host Bacon County on Tuesday night. Brandon Albright picked up the win for the Redskins. Nathan Leggett recorded the save. Dalton Raulerson hit a 3-run homer in top of the second to give the Redskins the lead and they continued to push runs across the plate each inning. In Hinesville, strong pitching and 13 hits combined for a 13-2 win for Richmond Hill over Bradwell Institute. Limited red snapper season opens

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker recently approved a request by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries to allow limited recreational harvesting of red snapper in federal waters, according to Doug Haymans, policy coordinator with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
