The BCHS boys and girls tennis teams are on a winning streak with two more victories each over the past week with respective victories over Montgomery County on Thursday and Jenkins County on Monday.

BCHS sweeps track meet

The BCHS track team boys and girls teams respectively won first place in a meet last Wednesday which included competitors from Effingham County, Portal, and Richmond Hill. The boys won first place in every singles event except one.

RHHS tennis team moves closer to state

After struggling with weather, illness and a host of strong opponents, the Richmond Hill tennis team has entered region play with authority. Both the boys and the girls wielded impressive wins over Liberty County and Burke County.

Richmond Hill splits with South Effingham

The RHHS boys and girls soccer team continued their winning ways in recent competitions. On March 6, they played their first region matches against South Effingham, and they faced Liberty County in other regional competition on Friday.

Wildcats learn no lead is safe

Richmond Hill coach Mitchell Curry knew Thursday night's game was going to be his teams first real test. Brunswick plays in region 2-AAAA and has the talent to finish strong in their region. So when Curry looked up at the scoreboard in the top of the sixth and saw his team leading 9-2 he had to be pretty pleased.

Southeast Bulloch holds off Bryan County

Wednesday night the Redskins hosted Southeast Bulloch in a non-region baseball and JV-varsity doubleheader.

Wildcats hang on to the Cup

The night began with an introduction of the Richmond Hill players, middle school, junior varsity, and varsity to the teams supporters and fans. Then came a tribute to a former supporter and fan, Jim Bayens. Bayens, who passed away in 2006, was a long time supporter of Wildcat baseball. That support was commemorated with the unveiling of a sign that will hang on the backstop in his honor. His son, and former Wildcat baseball coach, Mickey Bayens threw out the first pitch to start the game.

Buccaneers edge Redskins

The Redskins returned home to Redskin Field Wednesday night for a game against non-region opponent McIntosh County and lost in a close game 7-6.

Redskins open season

The BCHS Redskin Baseball team opened their season Friday night with a scrimmage game against Bradwell Institute and a ceremony that honored former BCHS coach Albert Lodge and retired the jersey of former BCHS baseball player Russell Williams.

Wildcats hit the diamond

With two games now under their belts, albeit one of them was a pre-season practice game loss to Savannah Christian, head coach Mitchell Curry has to be fairly pleased with the results. The pitching is what he thought it would be and the rest isn't so bad either. On Monday night in Swainsboro the Wildcats rebounded nicely beating the always-tough Tigers on their own turf for a season starting 8-4 win.

Tickets available for GSU finale

STATESBORO – After 11 games in the 2014 season, it comes down to the final one at Allen E. Paulson Stadium Saturday, Nov. 29th with a Sun Belt Championship and undefeated mark in the league on the line. In Georgia Southern's home finale against ULM, set to kick off at 6 p.m., Eagle Nation will also be saying farewell to 22 seniors who will play their last home game at "Our House."
