Bryan County Anti-Drug Coalition Chairman Gini Nichols awards first place in the group's art contest to Richmond Hill High School 7th-grader Makayla Peny on May 8. Peny's prize artwork depicts a slot machine with the slogan "Don't gamble with your life." Nichols said the coalition plans to use Peny's artwork and slogan in ads and billboards.

G.W. Carver Elementary students Jessy Song and Gbolohan Sobowale won a raffle for two free bikes, donated by Joe Brannen of Horace Mann Insurance. The 25 students with perfect attendance for the 2012-13 school year were entered in the raffle and treated to a special ice cream sundae party on the last day of school.
