Stewart spells out effects of shutdown

Commissaries are open today only to reduce perishables on hand. The items are not being sold at a reduced price. After today, the commissaries will be closed for the duration of the shutdown.

Stewart opens Army Wellness Center

A new Army Wellness Center officially opened at Fort Stewart this week with a ribbon cutting by 3rd Infantry Division and Stewart-Hunter Commander Maj. Gen. Former Stewart commander dies

Former Fort Stewart commander Lt. Gen. James Vaught died Sept. 20. According to an obituary in the Grand Strand Daily in Conway, S.C., Vaught was a South Carolina native. He was commander of the 24th Infantry Division from 1977-79, but previously served with the 24th ID during the Korean War, long before the 24th ID was reactivated at Fort Stewart in 1975.
