Don't let left hand make the right slip up

A couple of months ago I kicked the bathtub. No, I wasn't mad. I was clumsy.

Help the needy and you help God

I am excited about the parables of Jesus. I have noticed multiple lessons in most parables Jesus used. The story of the sheep and the goats, as recorded in Matthew Ch. 25, is no exception. The group that pleased the Lord will be invited into the Lord's kingdom and the group that displeased the Lord will be cast out and will endure everlasting punishment. Now, of course, that is an over simplification of a profound spiritual ...

Evidence of a changed life

The other day my wife came running to me from outside the house and wanted me to hear some birds in the trees talking to one another – that is, in bird talk.

Plead guilty, ask for mercy; it's only option

What an embarrassing moment it was. I took my test to the professor and said, "Dr. B, I'm sorry, but I can't read the note you wrote me. What does it say?"

Ministries must touch lives

While visiting someone in Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, I walked into the lobby and saw a woman sitting alone, crying. My first thought was to keep going, but, out of compassion and concern, I introduced myself and asked the woman whether I could be of help.

Pastor aspires to teach others

Pastor Moses Blackmon didn't move to Georgia because he had been selected to pastor a new church. A native of Troy, Ala., Blackmon moved to Miami at the age of 3. In 2006, he relocated to Liberty County. "My daughter's husband was in the military and we moved to Georgia," he said.

We may as well learn to get along

It was nine years ago this morning. I don't have to offer any further explanation do I?

Obey God's word while time is on your side

Over the past several weeks we have been looking at why everyone will not be saved, even though God desires it to happen. As we have seen the Bible shows that man has a part in his salvation.

Make the decision, reap the benefits

When most people go to their mailbox or P.O. box, they start to immediately go through the mail deciding what pieces are worthy of keeping.

How to rejoice in suffering

One of the least-popular requirements of Christianity is the act of suffering. In his letter to the church at Philippi, Ch.1:29, the Apostle Paul puts it very plainly, "For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in Him but also suffer for His sake."

Treat grandparents well always

Sunday, grandparents everywhere were given the seat of honor. Many of them will tell you without hesitation they deserve it.

This word is for you: Listening

How many times do we read the Bible and come across a scriptural reference and we say something like, "Boy, do I know who ought to be reading this?"

Walk with the Lord and never go astray

This weekend marks the official end of the summer. I am aware that school has been in session for a month already. High school football and softball and cross country teams are in full swing.

Come to life spiritually through Jesus

There is a TV show called "The Walking Dead" that is popular among many. It is about people who die from a virus but come back to life changed individuals - but not for the good of humanity.

You have to choose for yourself -- part 1

Most religious people believe that God loves everyone and wants all to be saved. Yet some fail to understand that he created man to have his own will so he can determine what to do or not do.

Count your blessing, thank the Lord

When I was growing up in the church, we used to quite often sing a song called, "Count Your Blessings." It goes something like this: "Count your blessings, name them one by one; Count your blessings, see what God hath done."

God creates the wonder in everything

I have a new computer. It is a laptop and literally is the size of the leather binder I carry in my book satchel. It is only a pound or so in weight.

Chose God over things of this world

When Elijah the prophet called for Ahab to gather all Israel to Mount Carmel, he started his address with the following words: "How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow him. But if Baal, then follow him" (1 Kings 18:21).

Live life with a pure heart

We live in a world that is fueled by agendas. Man, by nature, tends to look out for himself. Occasionally, (it is one of the rarest occurrences) you come across a person who's only true agenda is the success and betterment of those to whom he or she is related. There is a person who is never quite understood. There is a person who is often rejected on the basis of trust. A pure heart often leads the bearer to be alone, even among thousands.

Our unchanging God will be faithful

It just amazes me how the stock market operates. It changes at the drop of a hat. Investors react both positively and negatively when a particular news story breaks.
