Freedom is in Jesus Christ

Our nation was built upon a belief in and a desire to worship God. Brave men and women took a stand for freedom, that, too, many seem like an insurmountable undertaking – to take on an entire nation in a battle for freedom.

Take a breather, enjoy life

In spite of their hectic schedules, a group of busy, local Christians have decided it's time to get away. On July 10-17, they will escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and spend a week in paradise.

Freedom comes at a cost

Today's key scripture verse: "Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty".

Stat close to the One who loves you most

Where has the year gone? It seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating Christmas and then the New Year. And later this week we will reach the half-way point of 2010. That seems so difficult to believe.

God is always the most important

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof" (Matt. 6:33, 34).

What it mean to have a loving father

Sunday, June 20, we celebrated Father's Day, but the sad thing about it is there are a lot of fathers who don't take this title very seriously.

Benefits abound for those who choose God's way

Recently I saw a commercial from an insurance company that indicated you can create your own policy and kind of name your own price.

A Father's Day challenge to be strong, kind

I don't remember the exact words I spoke, but very quickly one of my nephews exclaimed, "Uh oh, Uncle Brad, you have to give up your 'man card.'"

Fathers Day

Happy Father's Day! Those words are echoing through the community all morning, accompanied with breakfast in bed (Cheerio's with chocolate milk, burnt toast and hand drawn pictures of adolescent abstract art, rendered by a future Picasso) or, perhaps, with a slender box containing the world's ugliest tie. In an earlier era, when school electives carried a higher value and priority, one might receive the odd handcrafted ceramic ashtray (emphasis on the word "odd").

100 years later -- Celebrating fathers

Today is dedicated to the men who sacrifice so much to provide for their families. Sometimes they go without to make ends meet. In this tough economy and times of high unemployment, these men work extra hours so their families can have food, clothing, shelter, and the necessities of life.

God's blessings can be yours

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).

Little these days remains the same

Have you bought your iPad yet? I have to admit that mine still safely resides at a store somewhere. For that matter, I don't even have an iPod yet. How backwards is that?

Do you want to follow God or follow idols?

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Against such, there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another" (Galatians 5:13-25).

We must be forgiving servants in obeying God

Mankind needs to thank God for the fact that Jesus came to Earth, died at Calvary and rose again the third day. Without the blood of Christ, no man could be saved from sin. The debt of sin is too great for man to repay, but Christ paid the debt for all men.
