I know the one who holds tomorrow

For a few days this past week I was reminded of how uncertain the weather can be. The forecasters gave us, here in our area, the possibility of snow and ice, which never materialized.

We can learn from others' mistakes

Paul wrote, "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope" (Rom. 15:4). There is much to be learned by the mistakes of others. Seeing what others have done and the consequences of their actions ought to lead us to want to be as faithful as possible to God.

Remember to thank and praise God

It is really rather fascinating, some of the things I have been asked through the years. One question I have heard more than once: "Preacher, where in the Bible does it say, 'God helps those who help themselves?'"

Choose to do things God's way

Choose, on this day, who you will serve. Choose to become who God is through Jesus Christ. Many are called but few are chosen. God has lain before man life, death, blessings and curses. It is our choice to listen to and obey God's word. We choose to be chosen through our obedience and willingness to do what the Father tells us to do.

How many days until Christmas

Be careful with your words

Mom always said, "Think before you speak." Dad used to say, "Son, you don't have to say everything you think." And in spite of all of that good advice, I have said more dumb things that I care to remember.

Listen to God in order to obey Him

God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden to tend to it, guard it and keep it. The Lord God told the man, "You may freely eat of every tree of the Garden, but of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and Blessing and Calamity, you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it, you shall surely die." - Genesis 2:15-17

Get a new attitude for the new year

For many of us, this past year has been a struggle. We've struggled to keep our families together, we've struggled to pay our bills and we've struggled to find happiness in the middle of our storms. But as we grow from day to day, we understand that our struggles are simply a part of our living, and your attitude about the situation is what allows you to see the silver lining that surrounds every cloudy moment in life.

Do you want to follow God or follow idols?

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Against such, there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another" (Galatians 5:13-25).

We must be forgiving servants in obeying God

Mankind needs to thank God for the fact that Jesus came to Earth, died at Calvary and rose again the third day. Without the blood of Christ, no man could be saved from sin. The debt of sin is too great for man to repay, but Christ paid the debt for all men.
