EMS ambulances get new look

You may have noticed a different looking ambulance running up and down the roads in Bryan County recently. Bryan County Emergency Services has two "brand new" remounted ambulances and three slightly used medium duty ambulances with a totally new look, BCES chief Freddy Howell said Friday. Thanks to a donation from Orafol, the reflective material and graphic design has enhanced the ambulances' visibility, especially at night. BCES, firefighters plan Public Safety Day

Bryan County Emergency Services and the South Bryan Volunteer Firefighters Association will hold their 12th annual Public Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 9184 Highway 144, Richmond Hill. Facebook relation turns sour after meeting

A Richmond Hill Police Department officer was patrolling Highway 144 near the Fish Hatchery shortly after midnight Aug. 13 when he spotted "a sedan travelling in front of my vehicle having difficulty maintaining its lane," a report said. "The vehicle was observed moving from the right edge of its lane to the left edge. It continued this manner of driving continuously. Based on my training and experience with subjects driving while intoxicated, swerving within a lane is a cue for a driver operating a vehicle while intoxicated."

Man shot in Richmond Hill parking lot

A man was shot around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Suites at Station Exchange parking lot in Richmond Hill when he reportedly tried to thwart a vehicle break-in, according to Richmond Hill Police Department Chief Billy Reynolds Sr. The victim, who apparently had been trying to stop someone from burglarizing his pickup, is an employee of the Suites at Station Exchange, which is a residential community for senior citizens. He was airlifted to Memorial Health University Medical Center, and his condition is unknown.
