Dogs found alone in home, owner charged

County law enforcement and animal control officials on May 11 rescued more than a dozen dogs and puppies that had been living alone in a Wellington Oaks subdivision home in Richmond Hill. Fred Scott has since been charged with three counts of animal cruelty after 14 dogs and puppies were removed from his abandoned 179 Lindsay Drive home. Terry Bernard named to pardons board

ATLANTA - Gov. Sonny Perdue has appointed two members to the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles, clearing the way for executions and clemency hearings to continue.

Perdue appointed Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice Commissioner Albert Murray and Republican state Rep. Terry Barnard to the five-member clemency panel. He is also recommending that current pardons board member Garland Hunt take Murray's former job.
