Early Thursday wreck kills man

A man driving a 1986 GMC Safari Van was killed Thursday on Fort Stewart when he veered off the road and hit a tree.

Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson confirmed the accident occurred at about 4 a.m., just off Highway 144 east near mile marker 10.

Truck driver killed on I-95 wreck

A Florida-based truck driver was killed on Intestate 95 on Wednesday when his 18-wheeler collided with another tractor trailer near Riceboro, Georgia State Patrol Trooper A.M. Cheney said.

Pembroke men sentenced for drug trafficking

STATESBORO -- Kevin Lamont Gourdine, 28, and Keith Denard Fields, 26, both of Pembroke, and Elijah Nahum Simmons, 32, Statesboro were sentenced earlier this week by U.S. District Judge B. Avant Edenfield to lengthy prison sentences for their roles in a drug trafficking conspiracy operating out of Statesboro and elsewhere.

World Cup fan gets irate at clerk

Matter of record June 24 – Officers responded around midnight to the Motel 6 parking lot, where a man had been run over by a car after getting into an altercation with the driver. The man, from Kentucky, told officers he was traveling with friends and a fight broke out between himself and one of the other travelers. The man said he didn't know what the altercation was about, but a witness told police that as he pulled into the parking lot, he saw the victim trying to crawl out of the driver's side back window of the car ...

Shots in neighborhood draw complaints, advice

Dec. 6: A deputy was dispatched to a Homestead Drive address in Ellabell regarding "a neighbor shooting." The complainant said his neighbor had been shooting a shotgun and was disturbing others. The deputy spoke to the man doing the shooting. He said he shot his 9MM handgun four times at a fox that was killing his chickens, but he had missed.
