Prescribed fire on Stewart today

A prescribed fire will be conducted today in Liberty and Long counties. The fire, which may present smoke to residents of Bryan, Evans, Liberty, Long and Tattnall counties, will be carried out by Fort Stewart Forestry.

UPDATE: Homicide under investigation in Bryan County

A Bryan County man was shot to death early Tuesday morning on Daniel Siding Road. William Haymans, 69, was found dead by Bryan County Sheriff's deputies outside a home on the 1800 block of Daniel Siding Road, according to Bryan County Sheriff Clyde Smith. Area meth labs shut down following multiple arrests

The Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team (CNT) made 10 arrests Wednesday in and around Bryan County that resulted in the dismantling of two separate methamphetamine organizations operating throughout Chatham, Bryan, Effingham and Bulloch counties.

Midway bank robbed

The Heritage Bank in Midway was robbed during the lunch hour Friday. Midway Police Chief Kelli Morningstar only could confirm the bank was robbed at 12:39 p.m. before deferring all questions to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office.

A Richmond Hill teenager was hit by a car Wednesday while riding his bicycle to school. Funeral set for wreck victim

A Midway man died Saturday in a motorcycle wreck near the Bryan/Chatham county line. George Wesley Thomas, 38, of Carlyene Drive on the Isle of Wight, died from injuries sustained after he lost control of his bike around 2 p.m. on Chief of Love Road, according to a release from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police.
