Baxley man charged with wife's death

BAXLEY - Police say a 26-year-old man who was arrested in his wife's death after initially saying two men killed her in a home invasion last week is being allowed to attend her funeral.

Crime reports for Dec. 8-18

Possession of marijuana: Dec. 16 - Just after 3 a.m. officers stopped a Fort Stewart man on Highway 17 near Ponderosa Road because his tail light was damaged. The driver was arrested because his license was suspended, and officers found a bag of marijuana in the Hinesville passenger's shirt pocket. He was also wanted in Liberty County for a probation violation and was arrested.

Midway bank robbed

The Heritage Bank in Midway was robbed during the lunch hour Friday. Midway Police Chief Kelli Morningstar only could confirm the bank was robbed at 12:39 p.m. before deferring all questions to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office.
