City may hold called meeting Jan. 26 for 'Project Honey'

Business After Hours oyster roast a hit

The Richmond Hill-Bryan County Chamber of Commerce's January Business After Hours event, hosted by RE/MAX Accent, featured an oyster roast and chili bar from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday. The festivities, co-sponsored by South State Bank and held at the RE/MAX building on Richard Davis Drive in Richmond Hill, included door prizes, a raffle, refreshments and networking opportunities for attendees. Despite the cold, wet weather, the event was well-attended.

RHMS teacher Robert Hodgdon named state's top science teacher

The Georgia Science Teachers Association (GSTA) announced the winners of the Science Teacher of the Year. Robert Hodgdon, a teacher at Richmond Hill Middle School, was selected as the 2015 Middle School Science Teacher of the Year for the State of Georgia by the Georgia Science Teachers Association. Dr. Paul T. Brooksher, Superintendent, said, "Mr. Hodgdon is a dynamic teacher who goes above and beyond every day. From engaging lessons within the walls of the classroom to field experiences throughout the state to building phenomenal relationships with students, the GTSA could not have selected a better winner."

Fire destroys Pembroke mobile home

North Bryan Emergency Services, along with automatic aid units from the City of Pembroke Fire Department, responded to a reported fire Thursday night in a residence at 101 Power Circle Road. EMS unit 5 was the first unit to arrive on scene. The crew reported to incoming units on a fully-engulfed single-wide trailer, andseveral small propane cylinders were near the fire.
