St. Elizabeth's collecting items for tornado victims

St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Richmond Hill is collecting items to deliver to the victims of the recent tornado outbreaks in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. Items needed include tarps, charcoal, baby supplies, blankets, flashlights, non-perishable foods, personal products and anything else that can be distributed to help those who have lost everything. Job fair draws record crowd

In an annual career expo held at Fort Stewart's Club Stewart last week, 227 job seekers arrived in just the first hour of the event to meet with 41 employers. Universities, representatives from the Department of Veterans Affairs and other governmental entities and about 15 private corporations, including Lockheed Martin, Fluor and URS, were recruiting future civilian employees from the military community.

Pembroke Police Dept. to add precinct office

Pembroke will again have a police precinct office at Miller Village, after city council voted Monday night to accept an offer of office space from Claxton Housing Authority. The only thing the city will have to pay is for water, phone and internet. A ribbon cutting will be held soon -- and Public Safety Director Bill Collins thanked the CHA, which is renovating the office for police at no charge and will cover the light bill, he said.
