Warriors Walk trees dying

The 468 eastern redbud trees at Fort Stewart's Warriors Walk are dying. According to Fort Stewart public affairs spokesman Kevin Larson, the trees intended to be living memorials begin dying shortly after they're planted.

Sidewalks plan lists $5.7 million worth of proposals

Relief may be on the way for the 40 students who dodge traffic every morning while walking down Ivey Street to Lynwood Avenue to catch the bus to school. Under a plan being considered by the Richmond Hill City Council, that stretch of road would get sidewalks, along with 12 other areas in the city.

Pembroke Police Dept. to add precinct office

Pembroke will again have a police precinct office at Miller Village, after city council voted Monday night to accept an offer of office space from Claxton Housing Authority. The only thing the city will have to pay is for water, phone and internet. A ribbon cutting will be held soon -- and Public Safety Director Bill Collins thanked the CHA, which is renovating the office for police at no charge and will cover the light bill, he said.
