Opinions sought on road work

The Georgia Department of Transportation is seeking input on the proposed widening of Highway 144 from Timber Trail Road to south of Belfast River Road in Bryan County and will hold a public hearing from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bryan County Administrative Complex in Richmond Hill.

Schools to be open

Bryan County schools will be open tomorrow, though in an emailed statement superintendent Dr. Paul Brooksher said staff members will check roads at 4 a.m. and if icy roads make it necessary to close schools a notice will be posted on school and district websites and sent through the school notification system.

Commissioners Jimmy Henderson and Carter Infinger voted against the measure, which if passed will allow alcohol sales on Sunday in the unincorporated part of Bryan County.
