Lewis named Class-A Athletic Director of the Year
Bryan County High School Athletic Director Ron Lewis, who previously was named 2007 Region 3-A AD of the Year, was named Tuesday as the Class-A AD of the Year for the state of Georgia.
Redskins back home, back in the swing
Not having played a home baseball game since March 11 due to a cancellation, the Redskin baseball team was chomping at the bits to suit up in their red and white uniforms on March 28 for their region battle against the visiting Eagles of Jenkins County. The Redskins would not be denied on this day as they pounded out 14 hits on their way to a 9-6 come-from-behind victory.
Redskin golfers split with Tattnall
The Bryan County High School golf team hit the links at Black Creek Golf Course for a home match against visiting Tattnall County on Thursday, March 27. The number two seemed to be the catalyst on this sunny afternoon as the Lady Skin golfers won their match by two strokes, while the Redskin boys found themselves on the flipside of two as they lost their match by two strokes.
Redskin netters have a busy week
The Bryan County High School tennis program was in full swing this past week as they had matches against three teams.
Redskins lose region game in fourth inning
The Bryan County High School varsity baseball team cruised into Portal last Friday night to take on the Portal Panthers in a region 3A baseball game with hopes of carrying some momentum with them from a strong finish they had in the Tattnall game a few days earlier. Instead, they brought to life the term 'Spring Break' as they suffered a 8-4 Region loss.
Black Creek has new golf pro
A new face plus a new name equals new energy. Alex Doty, the new head golf pro at Black Creek Golf Club in North Bryan County, has had the 'eye of the tiger' since coming to the Black Creek Golf Club in October and has plans to put the North Bryan course on the map. Redskins fall to Tattnall, beat ECI
The Bryan County High School Redskin baseball team traveled to Tattnall County on Thursday night and ended up on the losing end of a wild game with a 17-8 loss.
BCHS tennis rebuilding
With the No. 1 and No. 2 boys players gone from last year's Bryan County tennis team, only one girl returning from last year and a brand new coach, it seems safe to say that the tennis program is in a rebuilding stage this year for Bryan County High School.
Coach: Redskin golfers are making strides
On March 13, the Bryan County High School boys and girls golf teams competed in a quad match at Black Creek Golf Course against Effingham, South Effingham, and Toombs County and picked up a third place finish. The Redskins have won two of their four matches in this early golf season and first year coach, Morgan Jersey, is excited with the progress he is seeing from his young and inexperienced teams.
Redskins get pounded by Calvary
The rain was the winner last Friday as it caused cancellation of the Bryan County home baseball game versus Johnson High. on Tuesday, March 11, Bryan County took on region foe Calvary Cavaliers and probably should have prayed for rain for this contest as the Redskins took a 13-1 pounding in a game called after 5 innings.
Athletes honored at banquet
Bryan County High School held their Winter Sports Award Night on Monday, March 10 in the school cafeteria to recognize achievements in basketball and cheerleading. Though the young squads of varsity boys and girls basketball didn't accumulate many wins this past season, there were still some strong individual efforts to be recognized as individuals on these teams showed that there is more to playing the game than just counting wins.
Redskins knock off AAAAA opponents
The Bryan County Redskins baseball team traveled to Thunderbolt to play Region 3-AAAAA Johnson High Monday Feb. 26 for the first game of the regular season and came home a winner as they crushed the Atom Smashers 12-6 in five innings as the game was called due to darkness. They did it again two days later when they blanked Windsor Forest 10-0.
Redskins have a chance to be good

Lewis named Region 3A’s Athletic Director of the Year
Bryan County High School's athletic achievements were widespread in 2007. Another shining moment for the athletic programs came several days ago when BCHS Athletic Director Ron Lewis was selected as the Region 3-A Athletic Director of the Year for 2007.
Bryan County High teams showed heart
The sounds of basketballs bouncing and shoes squeaking on the hardwood courts finally came to a halt last Wednesday for the Bryan County Redskins basketball squads. Both the boys and girls went down in defeat in the first round of the Region 3-A Tournament held at Emanuel County Institute.
