Wildcats get mercy-rule win over cross county rivals

Richmond Hill may have played its most complete game so far this early season, much to the chagrin of the visiting Bryan County Redskins, as the Wildcats will now hang on to the county trophy yet another year with a 13-1 five inning win. The home team did it with good hitting, good pitching and good defense.

Wildcats stun Hephzibah

Given the choice, head coach William Altman will take boring over exciting every time. The Wildcats pulled off a stunning upset of Hephzibah on Friday 47-41. While the win over the second place Rebels was admittedly the biggest victory of his team's season, Altman termed the game - boring. Richmond Hill went to the other end of the spectrum on Saturday with a down to the wire, nail biting 46-45 loss to visiting Wayne County.

Richmond Hill teams fall

The Richmond Hill girls traveled to Saint Vincent's Academy on Friday to take on a team that had beaten them rather handily earlier on their home court. Not only were they faced with a hostile crowd in a small and loud gym, they were also hampered with their best player injured and playing less than 100 percent. The result was still a narrow 42-38 loss. With Tyler Carlson still suffering from an injury - a hard foul on a drive to the basket last weekend - the team's loss may have produced a positive result. Wildcats keep it close early, but fall to Liberty

William Altman's philosophy is - you have to play the game, so you may as well have a game plan. The Richmond Hill coach had a plan that kept his team close to the favored Liberty County squad on Tuesday for the second game in as many tries. The second half of both games also went the same way and the Panthers pulled away with a 49-32 win.

Wildcat wrestlers pin down their first wins of 2007-08 season

The Richmond Hill wrestling team pulled out their first wins of the season during a Jan. 17 meet at Savannah Arts Academy. The Mat Cats garnered a 24-12 victory over Savannah Arts Academy and an impressive 60-12 victory over Beach High School with wins garnered by the majority of the RHHS roster.

Wildcats down rival South Effingham

William Altman was still having a hard time sleeping nights after witnessing his team squander a 15 point lead to Claxton on Tuesday. When his Wildcats went up by over fifteen points in the second half of their game against South Effingham the coach called time out just to be sure his team understood they were not to let up. They didn't.

Wildcats drop two games

In the talent laden region 3-AAA Richmond Hill has found another opponent that will make noise come tournament time and like the others they were much bigger, stronger and more physical than the Wildcats. The Bears jumped out to a big lead early and stretched it through three periods for a 64-47 win.

Lady Wildcats win 'measuring stick' game

Head coach Elizabeth Bennett has said all along that this is a rebuilding year for her team and what she hopes for is that they are able to "see growth" throughout the season. Windsor Forest has proved to be a good measuring stick of that growth for Bennett.

Richmond Hill gets swept

Richmond Hill welcomed region foes St. Vincent's Academy and Benedictine to the Wildcat Gym this past Tuesday. Both home teams failed to come away with wins, in both games free throws and foul trouble would play a factor for each squad.
