The Arts on the Coast fall exhibit at the Richmond Hill City Center closed last week, but association officials are hailing the exhibit and its opening reception a success.
The exhibit, which featured more than 80 pieces from 30 visual artists, opened Nov. 11, and around 200 people from the community came out to take a peek at the artwork.
Guests attending the reception were eligible to register for a prize drawing of a print by one of the member artists.  The winners of the prize drawings were: Susan Smith, who won a print of Sue Vertullo’s “Great Blue Heron;” Ray Carter, who won a print of Carol Hartley’s “Ossabaw Oak;” and Alice Steyaart, who won a seafood festival poster by Kathy Hatcher.
Dr. Tom Cato, the department head of art, music and theater at Armstrong Atlantic State University, was on hand to judge the exhibit. Exhibition winners include: Chris Walker, first place for oil painting; Carol Hartley, second place for photography; Ray Layton, third place for oil painting; and Joy Dunigan, honorable mention for photography.
“Arts on The Coast is appreciative of everyone who attended the reception to help make it a success,” said Glenda Carter, association second vice president and chairman for publicity. “We would also like to thank the following supporters of our event: the Wilderman Group, Midway Gallery, Leahy Art Gallery and Utrecht Art Supply. Thanks for all your support of the arts in Bryan County.”
