PawParazzi and The Boy Scouts of America recently co-hosted a costume contest fundraiser to fund a new Veterinary Explorer Post program for Richmond Hill High School students.
“We were excited to be able to raise almost $60 for the Explorer Post program,” said PawParazzi owner Sherri Broome. “We need more young people to understand the importance of pet care and to look into the various career fields.”
Participants had pictures made and asked friends and family to donate change for votes. A grand prize was given to the one raising the most money. Max (seen in picture) and human Jennifer Dudley won the grand prize while FiFi and human Maura McNish received Judge’s Choice award.
The Explorer Post programs, an extension of The Boy Scouts of America, gives selected high school students the opportunity to shadow professionals once a month in a particular career field, such as aviation, health care and communications.
“This is a partnership that will last beyond the fundraiser,” said Barbara Foley, executive director of The Explorer Post programs. “PawParazzi does a number of great things for Richmond Hill and has agreed to work with us as we develop the curriculum for the Veterinary Explorer Post.”
PawParazzi is now gearing up for pictures with Santa, which will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Richmond Hill store. All proceeds for the holiday keepsakes will go toward the National Canine Cancer Foundation.
