The first day of school truly beacons each of us to a new beginning. Students, parents, and teachers alike often experience that flutter of apprehension that accompanies a brand new school year.

However, each and every year we are given this opportunity for a fresh start. The enthusiasm and dedication with which we pursue this new beginning holds the key to a successful school year.

This is the time for each of us to make the commitment to move forward with an uplifted, positive attitude in every thought and deed.

It is a time for each of us to take a fresh look at the tasks we are all asked to perform and apply ourselves wholeheartedly. As we all strive to accept our own uniqueness and discover our own strengths, we will be better able to work together to make this school year even better than the last.

We encourage students to come to school every day, to be on time, to apply themselves and work everyday with their teachers to increase their knowledge.

We encourage parents to support their students, communicate with teachers, and continue to be a catalyst for quality education in our community.

We encourage teachers to work diligently to enlighten every student in their care, to communicate with parents, and to continue to make Bryan County a destination for good education in our area.

Our community is fortunate to have a school board and a superintendent who are also dedicated to giving us new beginnings and making each school year better then the one before.

Through their tireless efforts and our community’s support, there are new improvements to campuses throughout the county as outlined in the recently published Good News about Bryan County Schools.

At Carver Elementary School we are proud to open the doors to four new classrooms. We will have ample space for students as we begin this new school year.

We look forward to eight additional classroom spaces this winter as we anticipate the future. Bright new classrooms and furnishings welcome students to make a new beginning every single morning as they arrive at school.

An excerpt from a poem by Gertrude B. McClain allows us to reflect on the opportunity given us, to start anew which can enable our community, including students, parents, and teachers, to soar to even greater educational heights.

The years will never take away

Our chance to start anew

It’s only the beginning now

So dreams can still come true

May we all work together to make the 2007-2008 school year the best ever!

Sincerely,

Joye Johnson, Principal, Carver
