He was presented the award by Fort Stewart Chap. John Tillman, Edward J Fahey, Hospice Support Services provider, Archie J. Seabrooks, chaplain, Colleen McCormick, registered nurse, and Debra Larson, Hospice CEO.
Also in attendance were his wife of 68 years, Mittie Newman, and other family members.
Newman served in World War II as an anti-aircraft gunner. He left Bryan County for service in Europe shortly after the birth of his first daughter and did not return home for four years.
