The Bryan County Drug Free Coalition is providing free drug testing kits to parents.
Here's the press release, sent by email July 26: "Sometimes parents may suspect that their child is taking drugs but they do not want to get a drug test that is reflected on their insurance or they do not have the money to pay for one. Another concern of parents is that if they use law enforcement to administer the test, then it becomes a legal matter against their child if it is positive. The Bryan County Drug Free Coalition recognizes these problems and wanted to help. They have placed drug testing kits at the Pembroke Police Department, the Richmond Hill Police Department, and the Bryan County Sheriff’s office for parents to get free of charge. The packets contain the drug testing kit, the instructions, and information for the parent on getting help and resources to use. If they cannot find help through those listed, they may call the Bryan County Drug Free Coalition or Bryan County Family Connections offices for additional information. The parent can also enroll their child in Project ALERT classes after school which is a drug prevention class taught by Peer Instructors that include helping students make positive life choices."
