“I meant to hurt her. I meant to cut her, but I didn’t mean for her to die,” defendant Richard Geiger told jurors Friday under cross examination by Atlantic Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney Russell Mabrey.
Geiger’s two-day murder trial, which started Thursday morning at the Liberty County Courthouse, ended just after 7:30 p.m. Friday with Liberty County Superior Court Judge Jay Stewart reading the jury’s verdict and handing down a sentence.
Geiger was sentenced to life plus five years after being found guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. The jury deliberated for two hours.
