CLAYTON - Rabun County authorities have uncovered a stash of marijuana they say has an estimated worth of $3.5 million.

Authorities estimate about 700 plants were seized from a location on North Germany Mountain Road by a team that included the Rabun County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. It follows a two-month investigation.

Authorities have charged John Phillip Langley with manufacturing marijuana, trafficking marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and theft by receiving for a stolen F-450 pickup truck and a Bob Cat backhoe.

Authorities found two trailers buried in a 100-foot underground tunnel hidden by a utility building. They also found large amounts of money and a stolen Georgia Power electrical transformer used to supply the needed electricity.
