The Historic Dorchester Civic Center in Sunbury is slated to reopen with the debut of a play, “Vanities,” by Jack Heifner, on Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17.
The play is a funny, bittersweet story about three Texas girls as they journey from their senior year in high school in 1963, through college and 10 years after. Directed by Brian Rothwell and produced by Samuel French, “Vanities” takes a humorous, yet razor-sharp look at the changing nature of the characters’ friendships during the years.
Starring locals Jennifer Buehler, April Groves and Jasmine Kersey, the show is presented by the Liberty Theatre Company and Hinesville Area Arts Council. Tickets for either show can be purchased for $8 at www.hinesvillearts.com or by calling 980-2260 or 341-9832.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Dorchester Civic Center. Attendees also can participate in a silent auction to benefit the Bradwell Institute Art Club before the Friday performance.
