Mike Reed, general manager of NeSmith Chevrolet in Hinesville, recently announced that the dealership is partnering with the Liberty County Recreation Department and Fort Stewart to provide athletes and coaches with baseball equipment, instructional clinics, a monetary donation and an opportunity to raise an additional $10,000 through a Chevy vehicle giveaway fundraiser. The effort by NeSmith is part of the Chevy Youth Baseball initiative, a nationwide campaign that runs through July.
NeSmith Chevrolet will present the LCRD and Fort Stewart with kits containing equipment bags, baseball buckets, dry-erase coaches’ clipboards and Chevy Youth Baseball T-shirts. The sponsorship includes clinics with experienced instructors from former MLB/MiLB players and coaches from the Ripken Baseball professional staff.
“Last year, we provided the same level of support to kids in the community and we’re pleased to do the same again,” Reed said.
In addition, NeSmith will make a one-time donation to the LCRD and Fort Stewart. The teams also will participate in a Chevy Youth Baseball fundraiser. Leagues across the country will each receive 2,000 fundraiser entry tickets to distribute for suggested donations. The leagues will keep 100 percent of the proceeds raised, and at the end of the fundraiser, five donors will win Chevy Equinox or Chevy Malibu vehicles. A secondary prize of a home entertainment center valued at $1,000 also will be awarded in each participating market.
Chevrolet is recognized as the official vehicle of Major League Baseball. “At some point, we hope the kids or their parents will consider a Chevrolet as an official vehicle of their household,” Reed said. “Our vehicles are ideal for transporting families, teams and their gear.”
Chevrolet has expanded its support of MLB to the youth baseball players in communities across the country through the Chevy Youth Baseball program, which began in Atlanta in 2006. Now in its fifth season, the initiative is in more than 20 states. Coordinators seek to establish positive connections between local dealers and the communities they serve. Since its inception, more than $7 million has been raised by Chevy for community youth baseball leagues.
The NeSmith Automotive Group is comprised of three dealerships: NeSmith Chevrolet in Hinesville, NeSmith Chevrolet Buick GMC in Claxton and NeSmith-Walker Chevrolet Buick GMC in Jesup.
