Although New Day Outreach Ministry in Walthourville was established just four years ago, Pastor Richard Hayes and his congregants are always thinking of ways to reach the community.
On Saturday, March 20, Hayes’ wife, Opel Hayes, will host New Day’s first Annual Women’s Conference at 10 a.m at the church.
New Day Outreach Ministry was established in May 2006 under Hayes’ leadership. Before it moved to Walthourville, the church had services in Hinesville. “The church started as a home Bible study,” the pastor said. “We will celebrate our fourth year in May.”
“At New Day Outreach Ministry, we believe the family provides a training ground for propelling you towards your destiny. Family is about relationships. The ministry works towards building relationships. We build relationships by spending time fellowshipping and learning our brothers and sisters so that we are able to communicate positive influences and encouragement,” Hayes said.
Before he was a pastor, Hayes was a minister, deacon and praise and worship leader. He also held several other positions in the church. He was ordained as an elder in 2000. Hayes said he played a role in the development and coordination of Bishops’ World Ministries, Inc., which is a fellowship of churches throughout the Southeastern United States.
The pastor and his wife say their congregants have been excited about the conference since it was first announced. The theme for the event is “Arise to the Challenges of Life.” It comes from Mark 5: 39-42.
“We will have three anointed guest speakers who I know will inspire us to arise in the power and grace of Jesus Christ in the face of adversity,” Opel Hayes said. Evangelist Lavonia LeCounte of Fellowship of Love Church of God in Christ in Allenhurst will speak about parenting, Renee Jones of Mt. Carmel Deliverance Center in Rincon will discuss the “many hats of ministry” and Pastor Cynthia Jones of New Beginnings Sanctuary in Port Wentworth will talk about the “many trials of relationships.”
Opel Hayes invites all women of faith to attend the conference. “Get ready to be blessed. We will also have games, giveaways, refreshments and fun with our fellow sisters in Christ,” she said.
For more information about the conference, call Opel Hayes at 610-1672 or 977-6725, or go to the church’s Web site at www.NewDayOutreachMinistry.org. There is no registration fee for the conference.
New Day Outreach Ministry is at 77 Kent Road in Walthourville.
