It appears from all accounts the 11th annual Richmond Hill-Bryan County Chamber of Commerce Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival was a big success on a number of fronts.

That’s not surprising. The festival, which is rapidly becoming one of the area’s signature events, is the result of a lot of things -- hard work, good people in key positions, smart planning and a desire on the part of all involved to do something good for Richmond Hill and its residents.

But as much as anything, it’s a reflection of a community that loves to have a good time, and is willing to work together to make it happen. It’s also a testament to those who in the beginning decided that South Bryan not only could pull of such an event, but should.

Their vision has resulted in one of Southeast Georgia’s top attractions, an attraction which seems destined to continue to grow.

What’s more, proceeds from the event are donated to a variety of good causes each year. They also fund most of the Chamber’s varied activities and a portion goes back to taxpayers in the form of a payment to the City of Richmond Hill. For those reasons, and for many more, the Festival gets an A in our book.
