Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield invite community members to join the semi-annual Fort Stewart Cemetery Council cemetery and historical site visit 9 a.m., April 28.

The visit will include the Glisson's Mill Pond area of with stops at South Salem, Jerusalem, Warnell, and Moody cemeteries.

Participants will meet at building 8091, the installation's Pass and Permit Office, on Hwy.144. Also, for individuals attending from Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Wyane or other surrounding counties, transportation will be available from the Hinesville Georgia Army National Guard Armory Parking Lot prior at 8:30 a.m. to transport you to Building 8091.

The tour will leave shortly after 9 a.m. Port-a-Potty and hand washing stations will be located at various stops along the route. Comfortable clothing and flat walking shoes are suggested for the trip. In addition, participants may wish to bring a bottle of water for refreshment along the route. If inclement weather prevails, the cemetery visit will be postponed to a later date with the same itinerary.

Attendees will be afforded the opportunity to have lunch at the United States Army Non-commissioned Officers Academy on Fort Stewart. The cost is $4.25 for the meal. Payment will be collected at the tour's sign-in table for anyone who wishes to eat in the dining facility. Exact change (cash please) is requested to help expedite this activity.
